Maldon residents are being encouraged to attend a Las Vegas themed night at the town hall next weekend, which will raise money for local charities.

Councillor David Ogg, the town mayor, is organising the casino night on Saturday 13 November in aid of his two chosen charities - The Sea-Change Sailing Trust and Churches Together.

The Sea-Change Sailing Trust offers sailing barge experiences to young people with disabilities, who are experiencing social exclusion or who are challenged by traditional educational settings.

Churches Together is the network of Christian Churches in Maldon, which played an instrumental role in coordinating the voluntary pandemic response in the district.

A spokesperson for the town council said: "Join the mayor for an evening of roulette, blackjack and magical wonders as Jack Blackbourn, master magician, performs his new show of deceptive, entertaining, mind-boggling mentalism and hypnosis."

There will be a licensed bar and all funds raised will go to The Sea-Change Sailing Trust and Churches Together.

Tickets cost £15 each, and are available to purchase by emailing the council at [email protected] or calling 01621 857373.

The mayor will personally deliver tickets where four or more are booked together in the Maldon area.

Doors open at 7pm.

You can find Maldon Town Hall on Market Hill.
