Maldon district's community volunteers have again made themselves ready to respond to those who need them as England enters a second national lockdown today (Thursday, 5 November).

Sarah Troop, director of Maldon District Community Volunteer Service (CVS), told Maldon Nub News this afternoon that she would like to reassure all those residents who need help with shopping and prescriptions that 45 of the volunteers who stepped forward the first time round have already signed up to help again.

Sarah, who received a BEM (British Empire Medal) for her work for the community in the first lockdown, said: "The most important thing is that residents who do need help have our helpline number. "

The helpline can be reached by calling 01621 851997.

And Sarah had more good news, too – the CVS Wednesday morning socially-distanced coffee mornings for those who need extra Covid-safety are still able to go ahead under the new restrictions and will continue to provide some interaction with others for people who could otherwise be left alone.
