Maldon Film Club opened its doors again on Tuesday 7 September and welcomed some 50 members, old and new, to the screening of the highly acclaimed, award-winning film The White Crow directed by Ralph Fiennes.

Our next film, on Tuesday 21 September, will be the Oscar nominated and award-winning A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood.

The film is a timely story of kindness triumphing over cynicism, starring Tom Hanks and Matthew Rhys.

The films to be screened in October are For Sama and Bait - further details will follow in due course.

The club works on a membership basis and is run by a committee that screens an annual programme of 18 films from the best of recent English and foreign language releases plus one "classic" or members' favourite.

The price of an annual subscription is just £25, which entitles members to free admission to all of the season's films - that is less than £1.32 per film.

In addition, there are a limited number of places for junior members aged 16-18 in full-time education and training at the reduced cost of £18.

As a member, you will be asked to give your reaction to the films you have seen and also help the committee compile the programme for the following season.

Membership is open to all and new members will be made very welcome.

For further details and an application form please check out Maldon Film Club's website using the link here, visit the Maldon Visitor Information Centre (open 11am to 4pm on Tuesday to Saturday), or contact me, John Salisbury, on 07905971608.

The season continues until 25 May 2022 and special arrangements have been put in place to ensure that everyone who attends is able to watch this season's films in a safe and secure environment.

So why not join now and enjoy the remaining 18 films for free!
