Police have launched an appeal for information following the theft of a mobility scooter in Maldon.

The scooter was taken from the boot of a car parked on the driveway of a house in Mundon Road between 6pm on 20 November and 3pm on 22 November.

The mobility scooter, a purple-coloured Illusion, was broken down into four parts to fit into the boot - the thieves left only the basket behind.

The owner, a woman in her 70s said: "The scooter is only a year old but helped me to get out and about and keep my independence. My daily routine has been affected and to replace it will cost a lot of money."

If you were in the area at the time and saw the theft or have information that may help officers find the scooter, please report online at the Essex Police website here where you can also use the 'Live Chat' button to speak to an online operator between 7am and 11pm.

You can also call 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Please quote crime reference 42/191828/20.
