The Maldon Festival: events will go ahead but volunteer stewards are urgently needed following restrictions announcement

IT has been confirmed that all events in the fortnight-long Maldon Festival will still be going ahead as planned - but the team behind the plans has put out an urgent appeal for more stewards following news on the delayed lifting of Covid restrictions.

Organisers of the festival - which runs from Friday, 25 June to Sunday, 11 July have said that since all the events have been organised maintaining social distancing and other Covid regulations, it is not affected by the revised timetable for the further lifting of pandemic restrictions announced on Monday.

Just one event has had to be moved - Soul on the Barges on 11 July will now take place in St Mary's churchyard instead.

One problem which the changed timetable has created, however, is a need for more stewards, so the festival trustees are issuing a plea for volunteers.

Festival director Colin Baldy said: "The festival is looking forward to welcoming Maldonians to live music again after so long."
