New lockdown grants for retail, hospitality and leisure businesses have been announced

Maldon Nub News will be bringing you news and updates throughout the day following the announcement of the new national lockdown last night (Monday, 4 January).

The first of these updates is that has been announced that the Government will provide retail, hospitality and leisure businesses with new grants to help keep them afloat until the spring.

There is up to £9,000 available for each business property.

There will also be a separate £594million national fund to help businesses outside these sectors.

The extra help, announced by Chancellor Rishi Sunak this morning, is in addition to relief from business rates and the furlough scheme, which is now extended until April.

England's new lockdown rules will be reviewed on 15 February.

Maldon Nub News will bring you reaction to the new lockdown from local businesses and more information from local authorities as it becomes available.
