Community radio station Caroline Coastal celebrate "hugely successful" quiz night at Maldon's Blue Boar Hotel.

The Halloween themed quiz night, held on October 18, saw more than 50 people take part.

Masterminds and pub quiz novices put their brains to the test in aid of the local community radio station.

Businesses and presenters donated a total of £500 in raffle prizes especially for the event.

Assistant station manager Joshua Holmes-Bright described it as "a huge success".

He said: "It's all thanks to the pub staff, the team at the station, and the listeners who came along in numbers to raise money for their local radio station.

"The donations and money raised meant we were able to raise extra funds to keep us broadcasting across the Maldon District and along the Essex coast."

Radio presenters set the questions for each round of the quiz, which ranged from "80s and 90s music" to the "history of Maldon"

Chloe Quye, manager at the Blue Boar, said: "It was great to host Caroline Coastal's Halloween quiz.

"Everyone really enjoyed themselves and we welcomed lots of new faces."

The station's next major event will be Light Up Maldon, the town's revamped Christmas lights switch-on celebration, on November 28.

Caroline Coastal will broadcast live from the event, speaking to stallholders, performers and the public throughout the evening.
