It's a fishy business as Society recalls story of a family steeped in local history

On Thursday, 2 May, the Maldon Society's Annual Archive presentation with photographs and voices will be on the subject of fish and fishing in Maldon - entitled 'A Fishy Business'.

Several different oral history extracts will be played, including John Copsey and his wife Chris, daughter of Fishmonger Douglas Ball.

John and Chris Copsey have kindly allowed the Society to display a collection of photographs giving the history of Douglas Ball Fishmongers.

Pre-registration is strongly advised for both Society members and members of the public to reserve a seat. Email:  [email protected] or ring Dorreen on 01621 853428.

The doors to the Cygnet Room behind the Swan Hotel, High Street, Maldon will open at 6.30pm with the meeting beginning at 7pm. Drinks may be bought at the Swan Hotel's bar.
