Detectives are investigating a fatal collision in South Woodham Ferrers after a car and lorry collided on the A132.

Officers were called to Burnham Road, South Woodham Ferrers shortly before 4pm on Tuesday, August 13, following a collision between a lorry and a car.

Emergency services attended the scene, but despite the best efforts of paramedics, a woman in her 60s sadly died at the scene.

Her passenger, two children, were taken to hospital having both sustained serious injuries.

A 41-year-old man, the lorry driver, has been arrested and is assisting with enquiries. He remains in custody.

Last night, the road between the Rettendon Turnpike and the KFC roundabout remained closed while investigations were carried out, with drivers reporting the road remained closed at midnight.

Now Essex Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything or have any dashcam footage to contact them.
