The historic Langford mill will open for free guided tours as part of National Mills Weekend.

A hidden gem nestled by the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation, Beeleigh Mill is a historic mill regarded as a unique part of Maldon's industrial heritage.

Beeleigh Mill Restoration Group will be offering free guided tours on Saturday, May 11 and Sunday, May 12, from 11 am to 4 pm.

Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the Mill's history and wartime secrets and explore the rare elephant boiler and other original equipment.

Before 1875, the mill was part of one of the largest flour mills in Essex.

However, the steam-powered mill has been under restoration since a fire destroyed a large part of the water-driven mill.

You can find out more about Beeleigh Mill, and find directions to the site via its website.
