A Maldon pub is set to become the home of a new bleed bag tomorrow (Friday, 26 November), thanks to the fundraising efforts of residents.

Maldon resident Nikki Swindle raised £100 for the Liam Taylor Legacy Fund by raffling off a beauty box at the café at St Peter's Hospital, on Spital Road, yesterday (Wednesday, 24 November).

The fund was set up by the family of Liam Taylor, known as 'Fish', who was just 19 years old when he was stabbed to death outside the Rose and Crown pub in Writtle on 31 January 2020.

Julie Taylor, Liam's grandmother, is dedicated to saving lives in Liam's memory by purchasing bleed kits and defibrillators through the fund.

Thanks to Nikki's raffle, Julie has now bought another bleed kit, which will go to the Queen Victoria on Spital Road in Maldon.

Julie, who thanked Nikki for her "kindness and support", will give the bleed kit to staff at the pub at 2pm tomorrow.

Bleed kits, which cost £97.99 each, can prevent someone from bleeding to death before paramedics arrive on the scene of an incident.

Julie has already bought several bleed kits through the fund, which have gone to venues in Maldon and surrounding areas.
