On Saturday 6 July The Maldon Pioneers held their first Summer concert at the URC in Maldon.

Over a hundred supporters and performers thoroughly enjoyed an afternoon of music by The Maldon Music Man Project, The Promenaders and Blackwater Blue. The Pioneers sang karaoke and got the audience singing along to popular music, Sweet Caroline went down particularly well!

A Silent Auction was held alongside the event, with kind donors and purchasers adding substantially to our funds.

Over £1,200 was raised on the day for the Maldon Pioneers and a retiring collection raised a substantial amount for The Maldon Music Man Project.

Row 4a Reason also made a generous donation of £200 to the Pioneers.

We are very grateful to everybody who came and donated so generously.

On Monday the 8th July Maldon Pioneers attended the Maldon In Bloom awards evening to receive a Silver Award in the Community Garden category from The Mayor of Maldon. They have worked hard on The Pioneers Garden in the grounds of the St Peters Building (Maeldune Centre).

Maldon Pioneers is an amazing group of people aged between 18 to 60 plus, with mild to moderate learning difficulties. It is a registered charity, formed over 40 years ago by a social worker who identified a gap in social interaction for adults with learning disabilities. The organisation holds regular weekly meetings and monthly Discos, as well as outings to places of interest, the cinema and an annual holiday. None of these activities would be possible without our wonderful team of volunteers and financial support from fundraising and generous donations.
