A police investigation into allegations of financial crime and the safeguarding of children involving a man formerly connected with Maldon Carnival continues, as the man has been re-bailed.

Last month, an Essex Police spokesperson confirmed the investigation was in its early stages. A man had been arrested and released on bail.

This afternoon (October 12), it was revealed the arrested man has been re-bailed until 12 January 2024.

Nub News understands there have been two separate allegations made regarding the safeguarding of children, along with allegations of fraud. A source told Nub News that members of the previous carnival committee have been questioned by police as part of the investigation.

There have been no further arrests made. The investigation continues.
