Thursday 12 October

Maldon Market at Butt Lane Car Park - 9am to 1pm

Maldon's popular weekly market is set to return to Butt Lane Car Park on October 12, from 9am to 1pm.

The much-loved market stopped when long-serving market operator Terry Frost retired after 43 years. It is now set to reopen with a new operator and looks to be 'jam-packed', featuring everything from local farm produce to home-made accessories and interior décor.

A list of vendors set to appear at the market has been published.

Friday 13 October

Astaria Candlelight Illuminations at the Museum of Power - 6pm to 8pm

Three magical evenings will be held at the Astaria Model Village in the grounds of the Museum of Power, Langford, in October.

On Fridays 13 and 27 October, enjoy candle-lit illuminations, with free entry to both the museum and the model village. It will be open from 6pm until 8pm.

Children and adults can explore Astaria with over 400 candle-lit lanterns, plus fairies and elves.

Sunday 15 October

Antique & Vintage Outdoor Market at The Museum of Power - 8am to 3pm

Haddon Events, in conjunction with the Museum of Power, presents an Outdoor Vintage and Antique Market throughout the museum's grounds.

Expect to find stalls selling antique and vintage items including, jewellery, silver, coins, vintage fashion, handbags, furniture, sculpture, garden ornaments, household effects, curios, art, collectables, ceramics and much more.

Entry costs £3 per adult. Under-15s enter for free.

There will be a vintage style café and food stands. Parking is free. Dogs welcome on a short lead.

Baby Loss Awareness Week charity football match at Heybridge Swifts - from 2.30pm

A bereaved father is organising a free charity football match to be held at Heybridge Swifts on October 15, to mark Baby Loss Awareness Week.

Kick-off will be at 2.30pm, with a minutes' silence held beforehand. FC Vilomah, a club set up for bereaved dads and families in Essex, will play against a team of Essex Freemasons formed especially for the match.

A raffle is planned to be held at the match. Tickets should be purchased in advance, and will be available through the Facebook page. Prizes include a signed Premier League team football, tickets for the Britain's Got Talent semi-final, as well as various other generous donations.

Baby Loss Awareness week runs from Monday 9 October to Sunday 15 October. A 'Wave of Light' service will also be held at All Saints Church in Maldon, at 6.45pm, to mark the final day.
