BREAKING: Road closed following serious collision near Southminster

UPDATE (July 24): Essex Police has confirmed the driver of the vehicle has died, while a passenger remains in hospital.

Emergency services are currently on the scene of a serious collision in Foxhall Road, Steeple, this evening (July 23).

The road has been closed and is expected to remain closed "for some time". Drivers are advised to avoid the area throughout the evening.

All emergency services were called to the one-vehicle incident near Southminster, shortly after 4.30pm this afternoon.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "We are investigating the circumstances around the incident and we're appealing for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage of the incident or the moments leading up to it to get in touch.

"You can let us know by submitting a report on our website or by using our online Live Chat service available Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) between 10am and 9pm.

"Alternatively, you can call us on 101. Please cite incident 880 of 23 July."
