A St Lawrence man has died and another is in hospital with serious injuries, following a single-vehicle collision in Foxhall Road, Steeple, yesterday afternoon (July 23).

Officers investigating the collision in which the driver of the car, a man in his thirties, died are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage.

All emergency services were called to the scene near Southminster shortly after 4.30pm, where a silver BMW had been involved in a collision.

Sadly, the man died at the scene despite the best efforts of paramedics. A second man, a passenger in the vehicle, remains in hospital.

The road was closed while officers carried out investigative enquiries and it was reopened after 10.30pm.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "We continue to investigate the circumstances around the collision and we're appealing for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage of the incident or the moments leading up to it to get in touch.

"You can let us know by submitting a report on our website or by using our online Live Chat service available Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) between 10am and 9pm."

"Alternatively, you can call us on 101. Please cite incident 880 of 23 July."

Last month, two cars were involved in a collision on Foxhall Road, Steeple. A man was hospitalised with 'potentially life-changing injuries' when the Kia Rio he was driving overturned. The driver of the second vehicle, a Ford Ranger, was uninjured.
