After a successful 18th year, Maldon Film Club is preparing for its new season, set to begin on Tuesday 12 September.
The 19th season will open with the Oscar-nominated Mrs Harris Goes to Paris, and will continue until 22 May 2024. Films will be shown fortnightly on Tuesdays in 2023 and Wednesdays in 2024.
Maldon Film Club meets at Maldon Town Hall, where doors open at 7.15pm. Wine and soft drinks are available to buy from 7.30pm. Films will commence at 8pm, unless otherwise stated.
Mrs Harris Goes to Paris tells the story of a widowed cleaning lady in 1950's London who falls madly in love with a couture Dior dress. She decides she must have one of her own. After she works, starves, and gambles to raise the funds to pursue her dream, she embarks on an adventure to Paris which will change not only her own outlook, but the very future of the House of Dior.
The club's second film of the new season, to be screened on Tuesday 26 September, is the Oscar-winning Everything, Everywhere, All At Once. With her laundromat on the brink of failure and her marriage on the rocks, overworked Evelyn Wang struggles with everything, including tattered relationships with her father and daughter. In addition, she must brace herself for a meeting with an impersonal auditor.
As the stern agent loses patience, Evelyn is swept up into an insane adventure in which she alone can save existence by exploring other universes and connecting with the lives she could have led.
Films set to be screened from October to December include Tar, Brian and Charles, A Man Called Otto and Blind Ambition
