The Principal of Ormiston Rivers Academy in Burnham-on-Crouch has resigned from her role following several years in post.

Jo Williams has led the secondary school since 2021. Under her leadership the school received a 'Good' rating in the most recent OFSTED inspection in June 2023.

Richard Dolding, the Education Director for the East at Ormiston Academies Trust, told parents in a letter sent out today (June 4) that Jo's departure is a result of her choosing to move outside of the region, relocating closer to her family home.

"Joanne will undoubtedly be missed by colleagues, students and parents," he added.

She will be replaced by the current Senior Vice Principal, Dijana Piralic, who will take the role of Acting Principal in September.

Her appointment will be temporary ahead of the formal process to appoint a permanent Principal.

The school has assured parents there will be a "smooth transition" as leadership changes, and has called on parents to show support to the new head.
