Café Brazil announce permanent closure in sad post
Maldon High Street's much-loved Brazilian restaurant has announced it will close permanently next week, after nearly seven years of business.
The popular restaurant announced the sad news on Facebook yesterday (June 30), saying: "It is with a very heavy heart that we have made the ultimate decision to permanently close the doors of Café Brazil on the 6th July 2024.
"It has been our sincere honour to serve our amazing customers over the past 7 years, sharing so many special moments, occasions and events and we would like to thank our customers for their loyalty and support over this period.
"We hope to see as many of you as possible this week to say our final goodbyes."
The sudden closure follows rising maintenance costs for the business, with the business forced to look at alternative options to keep the restaurant open at the end of 2023.
In a statement to Maldon Nub News, the Café Brazil Management team said: "We are very sad to come to this hard decision after 6 years trying to give Maldon residents a piece of Brazil.
"Unfortunately the higher cost to maintain the business and keep it open on a daily basis is something that I can't cope with.
"In business when the maths don't add up, there's no point to keep going.
"It was a hard decision, but the sensible one."
Café Brazil is one of Maldon's most loved food locations, boasting the third spot on Tripadvisor's list of top Maldon restaurants.
The restaurant will remain open until July 6, with doors open from Monday, July 1 to Friday, July 5 from 12 pm to 3 pm only.
Those who own valid vouchers for the restaurant must visit before the closing date in order to reimburse or use the voucher.
