Freemasons host Heybridge fishing day for children with special needs

Earlier this month, the Essex Branch of the Masonic Trout and Salmon Fishing Charity (MTSFC) organised a special fishing day for a group of young people in Heybridge.
Pupils from the Thriftwood School, Chelmsford enjoyed a day of adventure at Chigborough Lakes on May 15.
The young people were treated to a hands-on fly fishing experience, guided by dedicated volunteers, followed by a hearty BBQ lunch.
The day marked one of a series of events, organised by the Masons, designed to support disadvantaged children and young people with special needs by offering a day in the countryside that builds confidence, promotes inclusion, and brings fun and new memories.

The day ended with a real sense of accomplishment for all involved. Each participant was proudly presented with a certificate, a commemorative medal, and an MTSFC pen by Essex Freemason, Dennis Baum, a special memento to mark a truly memorable experience.
Mersea Island Lodge sponsored the event and 12 volunteers supported the children throughout the day.
MTSFC welcomes volunteers from all walks of life, and women are especially encouraged to get involved. If you can spare even a day or two each year, you can help create a truly meaningful experience for young people who may otherwise never have the chance to enjoy something like this.
The next Essex MTSFC event will take place on Tuesday, October 7.
