A stalker who bombarded his victims with calls, texts and lurked outside their homes has pleaded guilty to two offences and will be sentenced in April.

Lewis Flack, a 37-year-old from Woodhill Road, Chelmsford, harassed the two women over the last five years, attempting to track one woman's movements in person and through her mobile phone.

He would contact her to make it clear he knew where she was, and send multiple calls, texts and voice messages if he did not receive an answer.

He would also wait outside her property through the night, banging on her front door.

Another woman reported receiving more than 300 unwanted calls and emails from Flack in a less than six week period, as well as seeing him outside her property as often as seven times a day.

Essex Police officers, working with the Independent Domestic violence Advisors at the charity Next Chapter, helped to safeguard these victims and review their home security as they carried out their investigation.

After identifying Flack's regular movements, he was stopped by our officers while driving on the A12 in Suffolk on Tuesday 12 March and arrested on suspicion of two counts of stalking.

He was charged and appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, March 13 where he pleaded guilty to both offences.

He was remanded in custody for sentencing at Basildon Magistrates' Court on 3 April 2024.

Detective Chief Inspector Nathan Hutchinson, who leads the Domestic Abuse Investigations Team in the north of Essex, said: "Flack had repeatedly shown utter disregard for the safety and wellbeing of his victims.

"His behaviour showed contempt for both these women as well as the law, so it is important he will now be sentenced for his crimes.

"Our officers assess abusers like Flack against academic research that shows the most likely indicators for domestic abuse.

"When we find offenders like Flack using this approach we have the information we need to act quickly and get a dangerous perpetrator like him off our streets."
