A planning application for a new 76-place nursery day school on the Wycke Hill development has been received by Maldon District Council Planning Committee.

The application for the nursery school accompanies a pre-approved planning application for a 1000-home development by Crest Nicholson, on land south of Wycke Hill and Limebrook Way in Maldon.

This development is set to offer a primary school, two early years and childcare facilities, general amenity areas and formal open space including allotments and sports playing fields.

The site plans suggest there will be six rooms, each accommodating different age ranges, as well as a kitchen, laundry, training, team, and office room.

There is also an external play area, complete with a vegetable patch.

The architect's designs illustrate that the single-storey nursery would have a modern look, with white brickwork, white render and light-oak timber effect cladding.

The designs suggest the nursery would be called 'Seymour House Early Education'.

In May 2023, plans were approved to build a 400-pupil primary school and nursery at the site.
