Council asks for help to build culture strategy

MALDON District Council, and its partner the Cultural Engine CIC, are encouraging residents to participate in a consultation that will help shape the future of the cultural and heritage provision across the District.
The Council is developing a new Culture and Heritage Strategy and is seeking public input to ensure the strategy reflects the needs and aspirations of the entire community.
The strategy aims to celebrate, support and develop the District's unique identity, preserving, promoting, and interpreting its rich history. It also aims to foster a vibrant cultural scene working with partners and enabling activities and events for everyone to enjoy.
Cllr Richard Siddall, Leader of Maldon District Council, said: "The Maldon District is a place of incredible heritage, history and inspiring natural beauty.
"We know there is a thriving creative spirit and, this is a unique opportunity for our residents, visitors, and local organisations to help us build a strategy that truly supports and enhances our local culture and heritage. To enable the final strategy to be a genuine reflection of the District's priorities, we want to hear from as many people as possible, we really want your contribution."
The consultation is open to everyone, and the Council is keen to hear from those who may not currently take part in cultural activities to understand how the new strategy can be made more inclusive and accessible.
The consultation is available at www.maldon.gov.uk/cultureandheritage.
