Council brings back pre-Christmas pre-parking

Local News by Nub News Reporter 27th Oct 2025

MALDON District Council has announced the return of free parking sessions in the run-up to Christmas.

This initiative aims to support local businesses and make it easier for residents and visitors to enjoy the town centre during the festive season.

The first free session, will be from 4pm on Thursday 27th November and is to support Maldon Town Council's annual 'Light Up Maldon' Christmas event which runs from 5pm – 9pm and includes a high street market, entertainment and the Christmas lights switch-on in the High Street at 6pm.

For the 'Light Up Maldon' event free parking will be available in Butt Lane, White Horse Lane, Friary Fields, and Promenade Park Car Park.

In addition, free parking will be provided in Maldon's Town Centre car parks (not Promenade Park), from 2pm on Thursday 4th, 11th, 18th December, and all day on Christmas Eve.

Cllr Richard Siddall, Leader of Maldon District Council, said: "We are excited to bring back our Christmas Free Parking scheme again this year.

"This initiative not only supports our local businesses but also encourages residents and visitors to enjoy all that Maldon has to offer. We hope this makes your Christmas shopping easier and any celebrations even more enjoyable."
