Plume Academy, Maldon has created a new display to commemorate D-Day.

The display was put together by Design Technology teacher Mr Aylen Smith, alongside the help of students.

The display contains orginal kit from the battle. (Photo: C Barton)

It contains original and valuable memorabilia loaned by Mr Aylen Smith, featuring kit that a soldier would have carried into battle on the beaches of Normandy.

Mr Aylen Smith commented - "It is a very important part of our history that should never be forgotten.

I am delighted how well our students have reacted to the display along with the many questions that the students have asked."

D-Day Remembrance celebrations are taking place across Maldon on Thursday 6, with a special beacon lighting ceremony to be held at Promenade Park.
