Maldon District Council has announced new routes for its waste and recycling collections.

The re-route is set to be effective from July 23, 2024.

The changes, which have been decided alongside contractor SUEZ, were suggested with the aim to make collections more efficient and reduce vehicle emissions.

Richard Holmes, Director of Service Delivery at Maldon District Council, said; "We are re-routing refuse and recycling collections in the district to optimise collection routes, reduce carbon emissions, and support our contractor SUEZ in maintaining a good waste service for residents, ultimately contributing to a cleaner and healthier community.

"I would like to thank our residents for their continued support as we work together to create a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future."

Further details of the changes to the routes will be available soon with social media updates on the Maldon District Council pages, a new calendar delivered to every household, a dedicated webpage, and stickers on bins announcing the new collection day.

The council have outlined several benefits to the re-route, including:

Efficiency: By revising our collection routes, the Council aims to streamline waste collection and recycling processes, thereby enhancing operational efficiency. This will ensure a timely and reliable service for our residents.

Reduced Carbon Footprint: The optimized routes will result in reduced fuel consumption and vehicle emissions, contributing to a notable decrease in our carbon footprint. This aligns with the broader goal of mitigating climate change and promoting eco-friendly practices.

Enhanced Experience: Residents can expect improved service reliability and responsiveness as a result of the re-routing efforts. The Council remains committed to delivering high-quality waste management services which meet the evolving needs of our community.
