Essex County Council urge residents to have their say on the future of waste in Essex
Essex County Council is urging the public to have their say on the draft Waste Strategy for Essex 2024-2054
The draft strategy has been developed by the Essex Waste Partnership, which consists of the 12 city, district, and borough councils in Essex.
A representative for Essex County Council said:
"It has the waste hierarchy - prevention, reuse, recycling, recovery and disposal – at its heart. This will help to ensure the correct decisions are made about waste and the services developed over the next 30 years.
"By prioritizing waste reduction and moving to a circular economy, we can protect the environment and save resources."
More than 4,200 people have already shared their views. Once finalised, the strategy will rely on the public playing a part in reaching their ambitious targets.
Councillor Peter Schwier, Chairman of the Essex Waste Partnership, said:
"We have seen a fantastic response to the consultation to date and some key themes coming through. I'd urge those who haven't already had their say to share their views before the deadline. There are lots of ways you can take part in the consultation and support available to ensure you can have your say."
The deadline for responses to the consultation is Wednesday 22 November.
More information and access to the consultation is available here: essex.gov.uk/wastestrategy
