Essex Highways fix nearly 200 Maldon potholes in two months
Essex Highways have released their routine repairs figures for July and August, detailing the number of pothole, pavement and streetlight repairs that have been completed across Essex.
The Maldon District saw 197 potholes fixed in that time, as well as 30 pavements and 72 streetlights.
Chelmsford had the highest number of pothole repairs, with a whopping 472 fixed.
The repairs come off the back of The Members Highways Initiative, funded by £8 million of the £12 million funding boost for highway repairs announced in February by Essex County Council.
The initiative has allowed Essex Highways to allocate additional crews for each District, to prioritize repairs raised by local members and residents.
Over 3440 defects have been repaired across Essex since April, with an additional 1776 defects in the pipeline to be fixed.
2000 of the defects repaired have been carriageway defects, followed by 1.2 thousand footway defects.
Essex County Councillor Tom Cunningham, a Cabinet Member for Highways Infrastructure and Sustainable Transport said: "There's a huge amount of repairs taking place across Essex at the moment.
"As well as Essex Highways' usual repairs and Priority One works, County Councillors continue to work with Essex Highways on repairs in their local communities.
"This means even more repairs than usual to improve the look and feel of where you live."
Essex County Council have also recently announced an extra £25 million in funding for more repairs this year, aiming to boost resurfacing on key roads, as well as roadside vegetation maintenance, and repairs and repaints for signs and lines.
