Firefighters rescued Emily, a four-year-old Great Dane, from mud flats in Maldon after she jumped off a boat in the river.

Crews were called to The Hythe, Maldon at 10:17am on Thursday, 13 June where Emily was stuck in the mud and struggling to get out.

Firefighters worked to safely rescue her and hand her back to her owner.

Emma, Emily's owner said: "Being such a big, heavy dog, Emily had quickly sunk in deep mud.

"She was completely stuck and we couldn't reach her.

"Essex Fire Sevice were amazing, keeping us both calm while they carefully managed to lift her out. Emily and I can't thank them enough!"
