Firefighters from stations across Essex rushed to Burnham-on-Crouch last night to tackle a huge blaze at an agricultural building near Marsh Road.

Huge Flames engulfed the building at Dammerwick Farm, with crews working into the night to surround and monitor the fire.

Nearby residents were encouraged to keep all windows and doors shut due to the plumes of smoke coming from the scene.

On last update at around 8.30pm last night, relief crews from Harlow, Colchester, Clacton, Grays, Brentwood, and Orsett were set to remain on scene to tackle the blaze.

Station Manager Scott Fretton said: "The building is completely alight and firefighters are making steady progress, but expect to be here overnight."

He said an investigation will be carried out when the fire is completely extinguished.

No injuries have been reported.

Other stations in attendance at the fire included Maldon, Burnham, Basildon, Tiptree, Rayeligh Weir, Southend, Leigh, Rochford, Tillingham and Wickford.

The building is said to house a number of workshops.
