A flag representing Armed Forces Day has been raised in Promenade Park ahead of Sunday's celebration.

Chairman of Maldon District Council, Cllr Kevin Lagan, had the honour of raising the flag on Friday (June 21).

Cllr Lagan said: "It fills me with immense pride to raise the Armed Forces Day flag here in Promenade Park. This act symbolizes our deep gratitude and respect for the brave men and women who serve and have served in our armed forces."

Armed Forces Day is an annual event, which will be celebrated on Sunday, June 30, to commemorate the service of the men and women in the British Armed Forces.

The celebration will include a military vehicle show and will be a unique opportunity for the community to come together, learn about military history, and show support for our armed forces.
