Southminster Church of England Primary School celebrates a 'Good' report from Ofsted, the first positive report since becoming an academy in 2015.

Ofsted describes the primary school as 'Good' across all areas of the report, including quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management and early years provision.

Described as a "happy and nurturing place to learn", the report sings the school and staff's praises, suggesting pupils are well-behaved and well-assisted in learning.

The report also refers to the huge improvement in teaching standards, highlighting how leaders have "worked diligently" to improve the school's curriculum and pupil's ambitions.

In a newsletter to parents earlier this month (June 7), a representative of the school said: "We are delighted to announce that the school's final report from Ofsted has now been published and that Southminster C of E Primary School is officially a Good School!"

In a post by Essex Police - Maldon District, a spokesperson congratulated the primary school on the report, following an engagement visit this week.

They said: "Congratulations to Southminster Primary School on their Ofsted report, you must all be very proud!

"It was a pleasure meeting you all!"

This is the first inspection the primary school has experienced since Headteacher Wendy Woods took over in September 2023.

The school has historically struggled in Ofsted Inspections, having received an 'Inadequate' report in 2016, and two 'Requires Improvement' reports since becoming an academy.
