Graham Churchill, leader of Limebrook u3a's Photography Interest Group, tells Maldon Nub News all about the group's new calendar, made up of photos taken throughout this year.

Graham Churchill has led Limebrook u3a's Photography Group for nine years.

"The group has more than 20 members of various skills, with equipment that ranges from mobile phones to compact, bridge and DSLR cameras.

January - Maldon Hunt by Dave Dove.

"We meet on the first Wednesday of each month and alternate between site visits to various places of interest for a photo shoot and a local hall, where we review photographs taken on the site visit the previous month.

February - Call of the Wild by Brian Harris.

"From the early days of the group, we have run a monthly competition where a subject is set and each member invited to bring a photo.

March - Bocking Fayre by Christine Smith.

"To keep the author anonymous, each photo is given a number. Members then vote for their favourite image.

April - Carters Steam Fayre by Heather Stephens.

"The author of the photograph that received the most votes is presented with a small trophy to treasure until the next competition.

May - Writtle Grass Track by Howard Corlett.

"Unfortunately, COVID brought this all to an end, but we continued to meet each month via Zoom and the competition moved online.

June - 70th Jubilee by Paul Madge.

"We have a few other activities during the year such as producing a wall calendar from members' photographs, and workshops on various aspects of photography.

July - Aldham Steam Rally by Graham Churchill.

"We've also had a couple of local professional photographers come along and give talks on how to improve our technique.

"The calendar for 2023 is based on the theme: Essex Events."

August - Clacton Air Show by Phil Page.

"The calendar for 2023 is based on the theme: Essex Events. Twelve different photographers were represented and there was a very wide range of subjects.

September - Wings & Wheels by Tim Stubbings.

"The Group is very friendly and we enjoy our hobby without getting too serious regarding the equipment or technical side of photography. It is all about meeting and having fun with other members of Limebrook u3a.

October - Carters Steam Fair by Edwina Ord.

"Our next monthly meeting will see Sally Lawrence give her talk entitled 'Continuity Capers - My Life as a Continuity Announcer' and is to be held at the West Maldon Community Centre on Friday 13 January 2023.

November - Maldon Carnival by Jo Madge.

"To learn more about Limebrook u3a, our other Interests Groups, or to book a place at the meeting as a guest, please contact the Membership Secretary, Sandra Stubbings, on 01621 855158."
