The Maldon Recycling Centre team began caring for the injured duck after it made itself at home at the site.

The duck, which is yet to be named, found safe haven with the team after becoming injured.

The recycling centre team, including duck dad, Steve (as pictured), have been instrumental to the animal's recovery, feeding him every day.

The duck likely came from the neighbouring Promenade Park, home to several birds, swans and other wildlife.

It is said to be still on site, and "getting better each day".

Love Essex, the official page for the Essex Waste Partnership, posted the image on Facebook on July 21, 2024.

Alongside a "heartfelt thank you" to the Maldon team, the account prompted followers to help choose a name for the duck.

What a quacking story!
