Maldon Film Club plans to resume meetings at Maldon Town Hall in 2021

Update from Maldon Film Club

The committee of Maldon Film Club has been meeting regularly during the last few months and now, in conjunction with Maldon Town Council, has drawn up plans to restart screenings in 2021.

In addition to the plan, which sets out how and when the Club hopes to re-open, the committee also has completed a Risk Assessment of the Town Hall to ensure that not only will all guidelines be observed but that, once again, members will be able to watch and enjoy the films selected in a safe and

secure environment.

Whilst there is still much work to be done the committee is hoping that the Club will open its doors again to members in mid March when the film to be screened will be Free Solo.

The film will be screened twice on that day, once in the afternoon commencing at 2.30pm and again in the evening with a start time of 7.30pm.

Screenings will be offered to 2019/20 members only and will be free of charge. Given that the audience for each screening will be limited to 30, seats will have to be booked in advance and the committee is working hard to ensure that a simple and accessible booking system is in place.

Further details will follow early in 2021.

If all goes according to plan it is hoped that four of the remaining films from last season, including Dogman and Balloon, will be screened before the end of May 2021. Once again a booking system will be in place, attendance will be

for those who were members in 2019/20, will be limited to 30 per screening and will be free of charge.

At present our 2021/22 season is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, 7thSeptember 2021 and the 19 films which it is proposed to screen will be those selected for the current season e.g. A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood, Bait, Parasite and Jojo Rabbit.

The committee is confident that Maldon Film Club will be able to continue through and far beyond COVID-19. So watch this space for further information and updates on our current plans.

On behalf of the committee may I send best wishes to all those associated with Maldon Film Club. We look forward to re-opening our doors in the not too distant future and to the return of one of Maldon's most successful, highly regarded and well supported community groups.
