After a very successful 19th season, Maldon Film Club is preparing for the future

The programme for the new season, which begins on Tuesday, September 10 2024, is heavily influenced by members' votes and will cover a wide variety of themes - with films from different regions of the world.

The season, which opens with the award-winning Other People's Children, will continue until May 28, 2025, with films being shown fortnightly on Tuesdays in 2024 and Wednesdays in 2025.

The Club meets at Maldon Town Hall, with doors opening at 7.15 pm for an 8 pm film start.

Wine and soft drinks are available, at a charge, from 7.30 pm.

The programme up until Christmas is as follows:

10/09/24 OTHER PEOPLE'S CHILDREN

24/09/24 THE HOLDOVER

8/10/24 BLACK BOX

22/10/24 THE PHANTOM OF THE OPEN

05/11/24 ONE LIFE

19/11/24 PIG

03/12/24 PERFECT DAYS

17/12/24 THE LAST BUS

From January until May 28, the programme includes 20 Days in Mariupol, Wicked Little Letters, All of Us Strangers, Anatomy of a Fall, The Great Escaper and the 1940's Classic, Casablanca.

Many of the 19 films to be screened have received Oscar/BAFTA awards or nominations and, as usual, the programme will offer something for everybody.

Watch this space for further details of the programme for 2024/25 which will be published next month.

The price of an annual subscription remains unchanged at £30, entitling members to free admission to all of the season's 19 films.

That's less than £1.60 per film!

In addition, there are a limited number of places for junior members aged 16-18 and in full-time education or training, at the reduced cost of £20.

Members' guests pay just £4 per film.

As a member, you will be asked to give your reaction to the films that you have seen and also help the committee compile the programme for the following season.

Membership is open to all and new members will be made very welcome.

For further details and an application form please check our website , visit the Maldon Visitor Information Centre (Tuesday – Saturday 1100-1600 hours) or phone 01621 869340 for membership enquiries.

Alternatively, you are welcome to come along as a guest to the first film of the new season, meet members of the committee and, if you wish, pay your annual subscription on the night.

If you wish to come along as a guest or have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact John Salisbury, on 07905 971608.
