Datum Attitude Brewing Co, in Tolleshunt D'Arcy, have released a new beer ahead of The D-Day Squadron's 2024 legacy tour.
The Legacy Tour American Pale Ale is brewed in collaboration with The D-Day Squadron to celebrate their 2024 Legacy Tour and to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day and the 75th anniversary of the Berlin Airlift.
The Legacy Tour 2024, which aims to honour WW2 veterans across Europe, will begin at The D-Day Squadron's base in the US before the 15 DC-3 military planes take to the sky throughout the UK, France, Germany and Italy.
Samuel, Datum Attitude co-founder and brewer, told Nub News how "special" it feels to work with the aviation charity as an RAF veteran himself: "The D-Day Squadron are very passionate about aviation history so it's a nice fit for us as a business to have been asked to produce a beer for them and their upcoming legacy tour."
Datum Attitude, a family-run, craft brewery in Tolleshunt D'Arcy, was founded in 2021 after the aviation industry was hit hard during the pandemic.
"I'd been a passionate home brewer for many years, completely self-taught," Samuel tells us.
"We started making only 40 to 50 cans per batch on a tiny, self-built kit, and now we're producing about 1500.
"Aviation has really been what's made our business, especially when brewing is such a difficult industry."
The American Pale is available via the Datum Attitude website, and will be on offer at all D-Day Squadron air shows from May to September.
The first UK air show will be at Shuttleworth on May 25, with dates yet to be announced for other shows.
The Datum Attitude Brewing Co will also be attending local events in their mobile taproom, including the Vegan Market Maldon on May 18, Danbury Summer fete on June 15, and the Witham Summer music festival on August 2 and 3.
