Local elections tomorrow: here are all the local candidates

TOMORROW (Thursday, 6 May) is polling day in this year's local elections – with more taking place at once than usual because of the delay caused last year by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Essex County Council elections will see three seats across the Maldon district being contested. These are Maldon, Heybridge & Tollesbury and Southminster.

The election for Essex Police, Crime and Fire Service Commissioner – which was due last year – will also take place.

In addition to this, there are two seats vacant on Maldon District Council because by-elections could not take place until now. The district council seats up for grabs are Tollesbury and Heybridge East – and because of the current political make-up of the council, the outcome of these will be critical in determining who holds the balance of power and forms the administration.

The newly-formed Heybridge Basin Parish Council will also have its very first elections, so all the seats are up for the vote there.
