Caroline Community Radio, Maldon's dedicated local music station, relaunched with a new name and a wider reach during a live broadcast this weekend.

The music station, dedicated to serving Maldon, Burnham-on-Crouch and the surrounding towns and villages, broadcasts from their radio ship Ross Revenge on the River Blackwater.

Assistant station manager Josh Holmes-Bright, said: "We've got a new name, some new voices and an additional frequency.

"We are also planning to attend a number of local community events in the summer and we look forward to meeting listeners."

Caroline Coastal FM plays a 24-hour mix of music and community programmes and will also relay Radio Caroline programmes overnight from Monday to Saturday and all-day Sunday.

The station now broadcasts to the Maldon District and the Essex coast on the new frequency 104.7 FM, in addition to 94.7 FM, and across the country online.

The independent community station launched in October 2020 and is supported by the legendary Radio Caroline, benefiting from the experience and expertise of the former offshore pirate radio station in areas such as programming, engineering and training.

Radio Caroline regularly invites Caroline Coastal FM to broadcast from Ross Revenge and this weekend more than 60 visitors went out from Bradwell Marina to tour the ship to meet Caroline Coastal FM presenters and Radio Caroline DJs.
