See below for key planning applications in the Maldon District, received or decided on by the Council recently.

Applications Received

1. Land northwest of 2 Maldon Road, Burnham-On-Crouch

Proposal to create retirement community consisting of 103 one, two and three-bedroom bungalows.

70-bedroom two-storey care home building and 55-bedroom two-storey assisted living apartment building, including affordable housing.

Erect ancillary community centre, eight shops with eight key workers' apartments above in two-storey building.

Two-storey medical centre (GP, dental, optician, and dispensing chemist), and single-storey office and maintenance buildings.

Amenities and sports facilities, including outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, allotments, and open spaces.

Pending consideration.

2. Venice Gelato and Coffee, 102B High Street, Maldon CM9 5ET

Change of use of former Maldon Discount store from retail to restaurant use, and to merge with former Venice Gelato and Coffee restaurant to form a single restaurant.

Replace the frontages with aluminium windows and doors across the front of both buildings.

Pending consideration.

3. Police Office, 49-51 Station Road, Burnham-On-Crouch

Flying of the ''Progress Pride Flag'' from the existing flag pole at Burnham Marine Unit.

4. Tillingham Hall, North Street, Tillingham

Felling four horse chestnut trees, two sycamore trees, and one elm tree. Sever Ivy on remaining trees, 1m from base.

Reduce one sycamore tree and holly tree back by 1.5 metres. Reduce another sycamore tree by 1.5 metres.

Sever all ivy on all trees in group. Fell one buddleia bush and one holly plant, and sever ivy growing up building.

Prune over-extended, weighted branches of two cedar trees by up to 1.5 metres.

Remove failed hanging branch from sycamore tree at 8 metres. Crown raise all trees to 5.2 metres where required. Sever ivy on all remaining trees 1m from base

Applications approved

1. Limebrook Park, Maldon (ongoing development of 406 homes)

Space for a vehicle to park while an servicing electricity substation on land south Of Wycke Hill and Limebrook Way, granted.

2. The Tadpoles Nursery Chapel Stores and Post Office, The Street, Woodham Walter CM9 6RF

Reduce five lime trees laterally by 3.5 metres and 3.5-4 metres in height. Reduce one ash tree laterally by 3.5 metres and 3.5-4 metres in height. Allowed to proceed.

Applications refused

1. Great Mountains Farm, Colchester Road, Great Totham

Conversion of Middle Barn agricultural building to a dwelling/house.

2. 16 Maple Avenue, Heybridge CM9 4BP

Single storey side extension and a porch and new bow window to the front. Change of external materials to front elevation and insertion of bi-fold doors to the rear.
