Maldon and Tiptree Football Club has paid tribute to Honorary Vice-President Bob Baker, who died on Monday (4 January) at the age of 93.

A statement issued by the club, based in Park Drive, read: "The club are saddened to announce the passing of Honorary Vice-President Bob Baker.

"Bob had been involved with both Tiptree United and Maldon and Tiptree for a number of years, remembered by many for operating the turnstiles at Chapel Road in the days of Tiptree United and then Park Drive. Over the years, Bob donated countless hours to both football clubs, ensuring that operations ran smoothly.

"The thoughts of everyone at Maldon and Tiptree Football Club are with Bob's family and friends at this difficult time. Bob will be greatly missed by everyone at Park Drive and will be forever remembered as a club legend."

Paying tribute to Bob Chairman Ron Dangerfield said: "Bob will be dearly missed. He was always ready to greet all in the boardroom with a smile and some fantastic tales, and it will be hard to find anybody who had a more positive outlook on life.

"This is incredibly sad news but he will be remembered with extreme fondness by myself and all that were fortunate enough to know him".
