The festive season tends to generate more waste than usual, while bin collections are subject to change with the holiday bringing disruption to timetables.

Maldon District Council has now revealed its bin collection dates over Christmas and the New Year, which include revisions.

Collections next week will take place a day later than usual, on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (29 to 31 December).

The usual collections on Friday, 31 December will take place on Tuesday, 4 January.

In the New Year, collections will once again take place a day later than usual, on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday (5 to 8 January).

Here's a full list of the dates:

• Tuesday, 28 December will be collected on Wednesday, 29 December
• Wednesday, 29 December will be collected on Thursday, 30 December
• Thursday, 30 December will be collected on Friday, 31 December
• Friday, 31 December will be collected on Tuesday, 4 January
• Tuesday, 4 January will be collected on Wednesday, 5 January
• Wednesday, 5 January will be collected on Thursday, 6 January
• Thursday, 6 January will be collected on Friday, 7 January
• Friday, 7 January will be collected on Saturday, 8 January

There will be no garden waste collections on the weeks beginning 27 December and 3 January. Due to the national shortage of HGV drivers, the council has also put some new arrangements in place for collections. Missed recycling, food waste or glass recycling should be taken in and presented on the next scheduled collection day. Missed glass recycling can also be taken to one of the district's recycling bank sites. Residents with missed textiles collections should contact Essex Textiles here. The council also asks residents with missed refuse or garden waste to keep it in their bin if possible to be presented on their next scheduled collection day. If this is not possible, residents are advised to report it within two business days of being missed and leave it out.
