Maldon countryside to feature in popular BBC series

Maldon District set to feature in popular BBC Series devoted to exploring the best countryside locations across Britain.
Several areas of the district will appear on screen as part of Series 16 of Great British Railway Journeys.
Armed with his trusty Bradshaw's guide, host Michael Portillo discovers hidden gems and fascinating communities from across the nation.
In the newest series, Portillo sets off on an exploration around Essex, travelling from Loughton through to Audley End, before exploring Romford, Chelmsford, Tollesbury, Witham and Saffron Walden, and finishing his journey in Colchester.
His exploration of the Maldon district begins in Episode 17, when Portillo travels to the Blackwater Estuary, stopping off at the iconic Ross Revenge - home of Radio Caroline. He will later visit the charming village of Tollesbury in Episode 18.

Maldon District Council posted the news on social media, with a spokesperson saying: "We are thrilled to learn that the District has been featured in two episodes of Series 16 of Great British Railway Journeys.
"Join Michael Portillo as he explores the beauty and history of our district in episodes 17 and 18.
"Don't miss out on seeing our beautiful district on screen!"
You can watch the respective episodes on BBC Two on Tuesday April 29 and Wednesday April 30, at 6.30pm.
