Burnham On Crouch Carnival is set to welcome thousands of visitors from all over the Maldon District and Essex on September 30.

The annual event, held in the centre of Burnham, brings the community together in a celebration of music, fancy dress, and light. As always, the event will raise funds for local causes.

A full day of fun and entertainment has been planned, say the organisers.

Terry Martin, Chairman of Burnham Carnival Committee said: "Whether you are a long-time resident of the town, new to the area or a visitor on the day, there is something special about our carnival that draws us together to enjoy the celebrations on the day."

Throughout the day, the High Street will be lined with stalls and food vendors for all to enjoy. From 10.30am, the main arena will come alive with an array of entertainment including local '999 races', the annual 'tug of war' competition, and a circus workshop. Live performances from local singers, bands and dance groups will also take place in the arena.

There will be a Children's Fancy Dress competition at 2pm.

In the evening, the town will sparkle with an illuminated procession, starting at 7.30pm. Floats, walking entries, visiting carnival courts and majorettes are set to dazzle visitors.

Burnham Carnival Committee is grateful for the support of Monte Carlo Homes, Vision Magazine, SRS, Imparmark, Burnham on Crouch Town Council and a host of other local organisations and businesses who have given generously to ensure the event can take place this year.
