Maldon District Council Marks the COVID-19 Day of Reflection

Maldon District Council planted a tree at Promenade Park on Sunday to mark the National Day of Reflection for the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Judas tree planted in the Secret Garden area is a memorial for all those lost during the pandemic and a reminder of the impact it had on the District.
The Day of Reflection is an opportunity to come together to remember those who were lost and to honour those who worked tirelessly throughout the unprecedented time. March 2025 marks five years since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Councillor Kevin Lagan, Council Chairman said, " The COVID-19 pandemic was an unprecedented time that brought loss and sadness to the District.
"Every sector of society was affected, and the impacts are still being felt today.
"I want to remember and thank all those who worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic to support our District; those in the NHS who delivered such vital healthcare, the charities who supported so many vulnerable people and of course the Council staff who helped deliver that work.
"I'm also so proud that Maldon District Council was able to help by turning our own premises into a vaccination hub.
"We remember the pandemic but look forward with optimism. The memorial tree in Promenade Park symbolises the resilience and strength of the people of the District and our hope for the future."
