A popular initiative will provide gaming sessions for children in Maldon during the October half term, as part of the Essex ActivATE holiday scheme.

Hosted by a Heybridge-based charity, Maldon and District CVS, the Power of Gaming project is offering a series of five-hour gaming sessions for eligible school children in the Maldon District.

Events are aimed at children in school years five and six, and secondary school age.

A spokesperson for Maldon & District CVS said: "Come along to Maldon Town Hall, to take part in a range of gaming activities across a variety of consoles.

"From PlayStation to Xbox, and all of the retro classics, there will be something for everyone to try. They will even get you up and active with the Nintendo Wii."

Sessions will take place on:

  • Tuesday 25 October, from 1pm until 6pm
  • Wednesday 26 October, from 12.30 until 6pm
  • Thursday 27 October, from 12.30 until 6pm

Event attendees will be provided refreshments and a hot meal.

School-aged children on benefit-based free school meals are eligible to book a free place. Other places are charged at £5 per head to cover refreshments.

Booking is essential as spaces are limited. Visit the Eventbrite website to book a place.
