Maldon District: Emergency services called to rescue woman stuck in mud at Tillingham Marshes
Maldon firefighters, police and ambulance crews were called to rescue a woman who got stuck in the mud at Tillingham Marshes this morning (September 7).
Fire crews were called shortly before 11.30am.
An Essex County Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson told Nub News: "On arrival, crews reported that the woman had freed herself but needed some help getting back to shore."
The East of England Ambulance Service sent ambulance and Hazardous Area Response Team vehicles to Marsh Lane. They assisted Fire and Rescue and police colleagues responding to reports of the woman trapped in marshland.
A spokesperson for the Ambulance Service told Nub News: "One patient was assessed at the scene, but hospital transport was not required."
Essex Police officers were also on the scene.
A police spokesperson said: "Following work with the fire service and HM Coastguard colleagues, the woman was retrieved safely."
Firefighters helped the woman back to the shore by 12.53pm.
The marshes at Tillingham are a popular spot for coastal walks. However, it is described as one of the loneliest stretches of the England Coast Path in East Anglia.
