Thursday 7 September
Maldon Carnival Committee Meeting at Plantation Hall, Heybridge, at 7.30pm
The Maldon Carnival Committee is urging new volunteers to take part, to help keep the event going after it was cancelled this year.
Christine Thomas, who joined the committee and successfully brought the carnival back last year is pleading to "anyone who wants to see the carnival continue".
"Please come along to our meeting and see if you can do anything to help us," she said.

Celebrating 125 years of Ernest Doe - Maldon Society talk at the Swan Hotel, Maldon, from 6.30pm
The Maldon Society's first talk for the autumn season will be '125 years of Ernest Doe', given by Sales Director Graham Parker on September 7.
Graham's talk will be given at the Cygnet Room behind the Swan Hotel in Maldon High Street. The doors will open at 6.30pm with the meeting starting at 7pm. This gives everyone the opportunity to buy a drink from the bar and chat with the committee and friends.

Friday 8 September
Tour of Britain cycle race in the Maldon District, from 12.30pm
Stage Six of the 2023 Tour of Britain cycling event will pass through the Maldon District this Friday (September 8), resulting in rolling road closures.
The route will take riders from South Woodham Ferrers to Althorne, past Ormiston Rivers Academy in Burnham, before turning left into Southminster and then reaching Asheldham. Participants will then carry on to Tillingham and the outskirts of Bradwell-on-Sea, before turning left through Steeple, Mayland and Latchingdon.
From there, they will right into Fambridge Road, past the Round Bush pub, turn left towards Purleigh, left again at Hazeleigh, then head into Bicknacre on their onward journey to Harlow.
Timings are approximate, but the Tour is expected to reach South Woodham Ferrers at 12.49pm, Burnham at 1.12pm, Southminster at 1.17pm and pass West Hanningfield around 14:23.
Spectators will get the opportunity to watch the 120 professional riders, including World Champions, Tour de France winners and Olympians.
Saltmarsh Coast Walking Festival (until 17 September)
A free walking festival exploring the Maldon District's Saltmarsh Coast and surrounding history, culture, and wildlife is set to run from 8 until 17 September.
Organised by the Maldon District Tourism Group, The Saltmarsh Coast Walking Festival is a 10-day festival in Maldon and the Dengie Peninsula, designed to help visitors and locals enjoy the Maldon District's rich tapestry of history and heritage along its 75 miles of coastline.
The event will provide led and self-guided walks to suit everyone, from family-friendly short strolls to longer walks for walking enthusiasts. Participants will encounter hidden gems around Maldon, Burnham, Goldhanger, Tollesbury, Heybridge Basin, Bradwell, and North Fambridge. In the evenings, there will be a programme of talks and entertainment.
Sunday 10 September
Maldon Fire Station Open Day, from 10am until 4pm
Visit Maldon Fire Station in Spital Road see the station's three fire engines up close.
There will also be "a full house" of Emergency Services with Essex Police, East Anglian Ambulance NHS Trust, and South Woodham Coastguard Rescue Team all expected to attend. Support will be provided by Wentworth Primary School.
Heritage Open Days - historic venues to visit for FREE this weekend
The Maeldune Heritage Centre, open from Friday 8 September, 11am until 4pm
Home to the Maldon Embroidery, which tells of the epic Battle of Maldon, the Maeldune Heritage Centre will be open for talks during the Heritage Open Days.
The Maldon Society's extensive collection of photographic and video archives will also be showing on a continuous display, along with displays from the Maldon Museum and the Burnham-on-Crouch Museum. The Art Gallery will show an exhibition of local work called Creativity Unwrapped.
On Saturday 8 September at 1.30pm, the Salt, Water and Beer shanty singers will perform traditional songs.
Maldon Museum in the Park, open from Friday 8 September, 1pm until 4pm
Maldon Museum, the Museum in the Park, holds a fascinating collection reflecting the social, domestic and industrial history of the town and the surrounding district.
Children can take part in a quiz about items found around the Museum, and hunt for fossils in a sand tray. There will be a special exhibition featuring Maldon heroes from both World Wars.
Beeleigh Water and Steam Mill, open from Saturday 9 September, 11am until 4pm
Enjoy an informative guided tour of Beeleigh Water and Steam Flour Mill which contains a unique Elephant Boiler, Wentworth Beam Engine and Victorian Milling Hurst.
See the engine turning using electricity for demonstration purposes, find out about the lengthy restoration and climb the steep stairs to see the mill stones.
The Salt, Water and Beer (SWaB) shanty singers will perform at the Mill from 11.30am until 12 noon.
Leech Memorial Garden, open on Saturday 9 September, 2pm and 3pm
Maldon Town Council, with the help of the Friends Group, maintain the public garden located on the outskirts of town.
The garden was once the pride and joy of two local sisters, called Edna and Joan Leech who lived opposite, at 14 Lodge Road. Sadly, both sisters were killed in an air crash in 1971, and the garden was left to the people of Maldon in their will.
Talks will be given about the Memorial Garden and the sisters on Saturday (September 9) at 2pm and 3pm.
Quaker Meeting House - open Saturday 9 September (10am to 4pm) and Sunday 10 September (12pm to 4pm)
This is a chance to learn about what happens inside the Quaker Meeting House in Maldon.
The simple space inside is listed as being of architectural significance. It provides an insight into the historical roots of the Society of Friends.
For this year's open day, they have created an installation on the theme of Creation. It is presented according to testimonies of Simplicity, Justice, Trust, Equality and Peace.
Steam Tug Brent Open Day at Hythe Quay, open from Saturday 9 September, at 10.30am, 1pm, and 3pm
Learn about the iconic Steam Tug Brent, a unique relic of London's maritime history.
Talks will be held at 10.30am, 1pm, and 3pm.
St Mary's Church, open from Saturday 9 September, 11am until 3pm
Find out what is in this historic church part of the Heritage Harbour of Maldon & Heybridge and part of the Heritage Open Days.
The Moot Hall, open from Saturday 9 September, 10am until 4pm
Visit the High Street's iconic Moot Hall, at the centre of Maldon life for six centuries.
From the late 1500's to the mid-1900's, the Moot Hall housed Maldon's court rooms. Today, it is a popular wedding venue.
Maldon & Heybridge Heritage Harbour Association Talk at Maldon Little Ship Club, on Sunday 10 September, from 11am
Guest speaker Julian Harrap will give a talk about conserving the built and maritime legacy of Maldon.
