A library in Wickham Bishops has closed temporarily so that it can be refurbished.

Wickham Bishops Library, on School Road, closed on Saturday 4 September, and will remain shut for around eight weeks to allow for building improvements.

A spokesperson for Essex County Council, which manages the library, said: "The library at present is an older style library building in need of modernisation.

"Upgrades will be taking place, which include heating, damp proofing and internal painting."

The library is usually open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, excluding bank holidays.

Maldon Library, on White Horse Lane, remains open to residents.
