Maldon Film Club is hoping that members will be able to enjoy films at Town Hall screenings early in 2021.

The club's committee has been meeting regularly and working on plans to restart showing films in a Covid-safe way. A detailed risk assessment of Maldon Town Hall is being completed to ensure all guidelines are in place.

Members will be sent a copy of the plans when they are in place.

A recent survey of members showed that of the 93 who responded, 29 thought screening should restart next month (October) and 38 in early 2021.

As part of the phased re-opening, a system is being put in place to enable members to borrow DVDs from the club's extensive film library. More details of this will be released in due course.

John Salisbury, spokesman for Maldon Film Club's committee, said:

"Fortunately MFC is in a strong position financially and the committee is

confident that it will be able to continue through and far beyond COVID-19.

"On behalf of the committee may I send best wishes to all those associated

with Maldon Film Club. We look forward to re-opening our doors and to the

return of one of Maldon's most successful, highly regarded and well

supported community groups."
